Total Image Beauty Academy has applied for and received Emergency Financial Aid Grants from the US Department of Education. Total Image Beauty Academy submitted a Certification and Agreement to the US Department of Education with the assurance that no less than 50% of the funds that were received will be used under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to our students. The student portion received was $89,081.00. All of the $89,081.00 funding received was distributed to all 169 eligible students who participated in our Title IV program under Section 484 of the Higher Education Act of 1965 and thus eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants under Section 18004(a)(1). These eligible students received their grant in the form of a check made payable directly to their name. Total Image Beauty Academy estimates that 169 Title IV eligible students on record as being enrolled as of March 13, 2020, and all Title IV eligible students who enrolled on or before June 1, 2020 will be eligible to receive these Grants to assist because of the Coronavirus Pandemic and its disruption of life and education. These funds are given to these estimated 169 eligible students for the direct assistance for the cost of attendance. This includes eligible expenses such as course material, technology, health care, childcare, food and housing. Each student is estimated to receive $527.10

We as an institution signed and returned the Certificate and Agreement form and the assurance that the institution has used, or intends to use no less than the required amount of funds received to provide HEERF grants to students.

***Amount for each student was derived by dividing the total sum received by the eligible number of students ensuring every student received the same amount. Each student will sign a receipt of the above-mentioned check which outlines possible uses for the grant.

***Upon review of our records we found that 167 checks were issued not 169. This reduced the total HEERF disbursed to the students. What we decided to do was identify 2 students from the following class who had a disruption of education due to the Covid 19 shut down that were in financial need. These 2 students were issued checks in the same amount as the 167 mentioned above.

On January 27th, 2021, Total Image Beauty Academy was awarded Grants from the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021 (CRRSA) Act. This new COVID stimulus bill included $23 billion for higher education institutions and students, using the same Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF II) model established in the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act. We received a total of $155,507.00 these funds were exclusively for students. We as an institution identified students who showed the greatest need and disbursed the funds accordingly. All $155,507.00 funds were exhausted and disbursed to our students. After being awarded the CRRSAA for our student body I started to put together a list of students who demonstrate exceptional need. This is not an easy task. All our students do a combination of Online and in school education. Short of interviewing every student and asking personal questions this was going to require a lot of investigation. The Departments understanding that Pell Recipients who have submitted documentation that made them qualify for the Pell Grant do show a need for assistance. Not all students receive the same amount of Pell, so I identified and separated two groups of students. Those who received close to the max award and those who received less. There are 156 students in this cohort. It is not a perfect formula, but it identifies students who presented documentation that the Federal Government formulated they need more assistance than others. Only 6 students received less. I decided to interview those 6 students and see if they demonstrate an exceptional need. After talking with all 6 I realized that regardless of their Pell Award amount all my students demonstrate an exceptional need. These are difficult times. Our school location is in Hudson County NJ. Union City, Jersey City and West New York got hit hard with Covid Cases and more than half our student population lives in those areas. Some of these students worked a good job in 2017/2018 and submitted that documentation which the Fed Govt derived at their Pell amount, but in the last year with Corona they all were either unemployed or became the head of household and their expenses and income greatly changed. So, with the decision to identify students with EXCEPTIONAL need left to me and I knowing what has transpired in the last 12 months all 156 students who are Title IV eligible demonstrate and exceptional need and received a check for $996.84. These checks were disbursed by hand and signed for by each student.

The Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund III (HEERF III) is authorized by the American Rescue Plan (ARP), Public Law 117-2, signed into law on March 11, 2021, providing $39.6 billion in support to institutions of higher education to serve students and ensure learning continues during the COVID-19 pandemic. We were awarded monies that we must distribute to students. The total amount of funds that were earmarked for our institution is $89,260.00. These funds will be drawn down in two parts ($44,630 x 2) the first on September 21and the second over the next couple months. These funds are to be used by students who have faced significant unexpected expenses, such as the loss of employment (either for themselves or their families), reduced income, or food or housing insecurity. We at Total Image Beauty Academy were charged with disbursing the grants to our Active students who demonstrate exceptional need. This was a difficult task and we as the institution did our best to identify these individuals. Overall, we identified 119 students of which 113 received $377.67 and 6 students who received $325.55. These checks were disbursed by hand to each student who signed a release letter explaining the reason and source for these funds. Copies of each signed letter are in the student?s file.

On March 1, 20222, Total Image Beauty Academy requested to draw down the second round of the HEERF 3 Grant monies to distribute to our students. Our students had various levels of needs. We identified these students by way of their Pell awards and personal information. We identified 117 students of which 73 received $415.10, 38 students who received $300.00, 3 students who received $551.00, and 3 students who received $425.04. These checks were disbursed by hand to each student who signed a release letter explaining the reason and source for these funds. Copies of each signed letter are in the student?s file. All above funds were distributed and exhausted HEERF 3 Full allocation.
